Facebook Opens Up Places - Write API and Deals

Facebook API is a platform for building applications that are available to the members of the social network of Facebook. In order to make the applications more involving, the API makes use of the social connections, profile information, publishes activities to news feed and profile pages of Facebook conditional to user's privacy settings. With the help of this API, users can now add social context to their applications by utilizing data from their profile, friends, pages, groups, photos and events etc.
Facebook team continues to strive forward to make its app platform more popular and easier to use on cell phone devices starting with one-click sign-on option for Android and iPhone. This news comes as a major breakthrough for the company. Places Write API has been on restricted access only but now write API has been opened up to all developers.
As the company reaches the milestone of 200 million people actively using Facebook on mobile phones across all platforms, this new feature will add to this figure. Single Sign-on is a major development for Facebook users. Now you won't have to enter your Facebook login and password every time you want to use an app that integrates with Facebook. Instead of all the hassle, you'll now only need to hit the 'authenticate' button and go.
An interesting and apparently true rumor has it that, the social networking giant, Facebook will be launching deals service for Facebook Places. Deals are a new application within Facebook's iPhone app that lets you find deals at nearby businesses. Currently the Deals app has 4 categories: Individual Deals (for discounts, free stuff or other rewards), Friends Deals (where you and a buddy of yours can claim something together), Loyalty Deals (for the regular customer/clients), and Charity Deals (which allow you to donate to a cause).
By the virtue of this application not only you but every friend in you list viewing your news feed can make use of it as well. More than 20 big companies, including McDonald's, Starbucks, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, GAP etc have signed up for the initial debut of Facebook Deals. The sole point behind the Deals app is to turn fans into customers and customers into revenue.
Facebook, apart from initially being a social networking service, has bloomed into an exquisite forum for business promotion and expansion. Cheap ads with mass outreach of over 500 million global users, gives it the edge over its contemporaries. To add icing on the cake, the Write Places API combined with the Deals app, enables the probable customers to check out the nearest desired locations and benefit from the deals these places offer. Now that's social networking via viral, effective marketing.
AvenueSocial is one of the world's largest social media and Facebook Application Development houses, consisting of over 150 designers, Facebook developers, iPhone developers, iPhone game developers and other experts; each with unique qualifications that contribute to the company's excellent work with agencies, brands and publishers.
